Kerala-based halwa startup Fulva has secured a strategic investment from well-known entrepreneur Aman Gupta, co-founder of consumer electronics brand boAt, marking a significant milestone for the emerging direct-to-consumer (D2C) food brand. The funding amount has not been publicly disclosed, but the investment is expected to accelerate the company’s growth and national expansion.
Founded in Kozhikode by childhood friends Shabas, Irfan, Thasreef, and Sanu, Fulva aims to modernize traditional Indian sweets by presenting halwa in premium packaging and innovative flavors designed for modern consumers and global markets.
Startup Growth and Product Innovation
Since its launch, Fulva has introduced 24 varieties of halwa, combining traditional recipes with contemporary flavors such as mango, tender coconut, grape, green chilli, and dry fruits. This approach has helped the startup position halwa as a modern, gift-ready confectionery product rather than just a traditional sweet.
The company has already served over 50,000 customers and delivered products to more than 15 countries, demonstrating strong demand for premium Indian sweets in both domestic and international markets.
Fulva is currently experiencing rapid growth, reporting approximately 30% month-on-month expansion and an annual revenue run rate of around ₹6.3 crore, highlighting the rising popularity of premium packaged sweets in India.
Purpose of the Investment
The new funding will primarily be used to:
- Expand distribution across quick-commerce and retail channels
- Strengthen marketing and brand-building initiatives
- Upgrade production facilities to increase capacity and efficiency
- Develop new product formats and flavors
These steps are expected to help Fulva scale operations and establish itself as a global brand for Indian sweets.
Vision for the Future
Investor Aman Gupta emphasized the potential of traditional Indian food categories to evolve into modern consumer brands. He noted that India’s rich culinary heritage offers significant opportunities for startups that combine authenticity with strong branding and storytelling.
Fulva’s founders have stated that their long-term goal is to transform halwa from a regional specialty into a globally recognized confectionery product while preserving its cultural roots and traditional flavors.
