Meerut: Sri Venkateshwara University/Institute has started its 21st grand Kanwar Seva Bhandara and medical camp near Daurala on the National Highway Bypass in Meerut. The service camp will continue until Shivratri, providing food, medical assistance and support to thousands of Kanwariyas and Shiva devotees travelling during the holy month of Sawan.
The grand programme began with special prayers, Havan and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in front of Lord Shiva. The inauguration was attended by Sri Sudhir Giri, Founder President of Sri Venkateshwara University, his father Sri Shiv Kumar Giri, Chief Sevad ar Acharya Pandit Deepak Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Chaudhary, Media In-charge Vishwas Rana and other members of the Venkateshwara family.
After the religious ceremony, the guests formally inaugurated the Bhandara and medical camp by cutting the ribbon. A cultural programme was also organised, followed by the Bhandara, where thousands of devotees and Shiva followers received Prasad.
According to the organisers, the Bhandara and medical camp will operate continuously until Shivratri. The initiative aims to provide basic food, medical support and a place of service for Kanwariyas and other devotees travelling along the route.
Speaking at the programme, Sri Sudhir Giri, Founder President of Sri Venkateshwara University, said that Lord Shiva holds a special and highest place among the deities. He said that worshipping Lord Shiva is not only about devotion but also about following the path of knowledge, discipline, strength, wisdom, education, values and hard work.
He further said that prayers to Lord Mahadev are made with the hope of the welfare of the entire world and the fulfilment of the devotees’ wishes. He appealed to people to follow the values of devotion, faith and dedication shown by Lord Shiva.
Acharya Pandit Deepak Sharma, Chief Sevadar of the camp, said that Lord Shiva represents faith, devotion and spiritual strength. He said that devotion to Shiva helps people overcome fear, anger, confusion, attachment and greed and guides them towards knowledge, strength and wisdom.
The programme also included special prayers and Havan for world peace and the welfare of all people. Sri Sudhir Giri, along with his family and members of the Venkateshwara family, performed the traditional worship of Lord Mahadev and prayed for the well-being of society.
The event was attended by Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Pro-Chancellor; Prof. Krishna Kant Dave, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Piyush Kumar Pandey, Registrar; Yuvraj Singh, Finance Director; Dr. Pankaj Singh, Meerut Campus Director; Media In-charge Vishwas Rana; Mayank Agarwal and several other members of the university and institute.
The initiative reflects the institution’s continued focus on community service and support for devotees during the annual Kanwar Yatra. Through the Bhandara and medical camp, the organisers are providing essential assistance to people travelling to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
