Meerut: One of the city’s busiest commercial hubs, the Central Market located in Shastri Nagar, has recently become the center of a major dispute between traders and authorities. The situation has created uncertainty among shopkeepers and raised concerns about the future of hundreds of businesses operating in the area.

The issue emerged after authorities identified a large number of constructions in the market that were allegedly built on land originally designated for residential use. Following legal proceedings, action was initiated to remove or regularize these structures. Reports indicate that more than a thousand constructions in the area have been marked for review or possible demolition as part of compliance with legal directives.
