A shocking fraud case has emerged from Surat, where a self-proclaimed yoga guru allegedly cheated hundreds of people by promising miracle cures and spiritual healing through Ayurvedic treatments. Authorities say the accused misused people’s trust, faith, and desperation to run a large-scale scam involving fake medicines and financial exploitation.
Police investigations have revealed disturbing details about how the operation was carried out inside an ashram that appeared legitimate from the outside but concealed illegal activities.
Who Is the Accused?
The main accused, Pradeep Jotangiya, also known as “Pradeep Guruji,” presented himself as a spiritual healer and Ayurvedic expert. Investigators later discovered that he had no formal medical qualifications and built his reputation by exploiting vulnerable individuals seeking health solutions.
According to police findings, the accused previously worked in unrelated professions before reinventing himself as a spiritual healer and establishing an ashram to attract followers.

Victims were reportedly charged between ₹15,000 and ₹18,000 for rituals and treatments claiming to help with health problems, including fertility issues.
3) Exploiting Faith and Fear
The accused allegedly organized special camps and spiritual sessions to convince people that their illnesses could be cured through his methods. Many visitors traveled from distant locations, trusting the promises of healing and spiritual guidance.
