A major illegal egg donation racket operating near Mumbai has come under investigation after police uncovered a network accused of exploiting financially vulnerable women for fertility treatments. The case, which surfaced in Maharashtra’s Thane district, has raised serious concerns about unethical practices in the assisted reproductive technology (ART) industry.
According to investigators, the racket targeted women from economically weaker backgrounds and offered them money to donate their eggs for in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedures.
